State Capital Kohima has no place to shit!

And it has come to the knowledge of one and all in Kohima that KMC is having a problem in finding a permanent place to dispose the humungous garbage of the town. According to reliable sources the usual KMC dump located at NH29 has been discontinued from some time back due to landslide problems (this land was originally acquired from Jotsoma villagers).

In the meantime the KMC arranged an alternative dumping site in T.Khel Kohima village land at Seithogi By pass area, but again the problem was that this land had been originally acquired for a slaughter house purpose. No surprise but the huge quantity of garbage which the capital produces everyday led not only the owners of the Government acquired land but also other land owners of the surrounding areas to start complaining.

It is understood that while landowners have been very understanding about the problem, the concerned Department has failed to arrange a permanent site for disposal of the same. Due to various reasons both the Jotsoma Youth Organisation and the T. Khel Youth Organisation are refusing to allow KMC to dump waste in their area anymore.

With Hornbill 2012 and the festive season approaching one is only left to wonder how this shit status of the capital will now be handled. To the argument that a municipal cooperation always has to cooperate with the land owners (in this case Kohima Village) (according to reliable sources) when Kohima village council was approached for a permanent dump site they wholeheartedly cooperated but the concerned department went for other sites that were not suitable for the purpose.

Sources also informed that the matter had even reached the CMOs office with no results. Well, Kohima will have to constipate until the matter is resolved in a fair and comfortable manner (pun intended).
