State Congress support ‘Code’ ban

DIMAPUR, MAY 26 (MExN): The Leader of the Opposition in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, I. Imkong and the President, Pradesh Congress Committee, Nagaland, Hokheto Sumi today met the Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, P.R. Dasmunshi and expressed their displeasure over permission being granted for the screening of ‘ The Da Vinci Code’ in the country.

According to information received from party sources, the Congress leaders pointed out that contents of the movie was against the teachings of the Christian religion and, therefore, granting permission for it to be screened in India had hurt the sentiments of the Christian community.

They also said the members of the Congress party in Nagaland appreciate the stand taken by the Government of Nagaland in banning the screening of the controversial ‘Da Vinci Code’ within Nagaland.
