
Dimapur, March 23 (MExN): The department of School Education has issued directives for implementation of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education for Children Act 2009. A copy of the notification was received here today appended by Principal Director of the department, Bendangkokba.
The notification stated that no school or person shall collect capitation fee during admitting the child or subject the child, his parents or guardians to screening procedures. Any contravention of this notice would be liable for disciplinary action under relevant sections of the RTE Act. No child shall be denied admission in the school for lack of age proof as specified in the Act, the order stated.
Also, no child admitted in a school shall be held back or detained in any class or expelled from school till completion of elementary education as per provisions of the RTE Act, the order stated. Likewise, no child shall be subject to physical punishment or mental harassment. Contravention of this notification is liable for disciplinary action.
No teacher is to engage in private tuition or private teaching activities as stated in the RTE Act. Further, no child is required to pass any board examinations till completion of elementary education, the order stated.
