The results of the Nagaland Public Service Commission examination belonging to Chang and Yimchunger candidates have been kept in abeyance till further clarification from the government.

A notification from the NPSC stated: “The results of BT reservation for Chang and Yimchunger tribes is kept in abeyance for seeking further clarification from contending parties/Government. For all category of posts where BT reservation for Chang and Yimchunger tribes exists, the inter-se merit for the purpose of seniority shall be determined only when the result for these two tribes is declared.”

Enquiring on the matter, the NPSC official said that the commission has given seven days time to the government to sort out the issue.“...let government decide,” he added. Until the government intervenes and give clarification, the commission cannot declare the results of those candidates.

Elaborating, he said government has not given any “nomination letter” on the issue. Stating that to avail the quota, a candidate has to be of the particular backward tribe by “blood”. However, some candidates belonging to the BT category didn’t fulfil the norms, he said: ‘...although their documents are correct but in reality it is not.’

In regard to the Yimchunger tribe, he said the government must first settle the Yimchunger-Tikhir issue then only the present issue can be solved.

“...there is no clear cut notification from the government,” he said. Meanwhile, several candidates have claimed to have come to know of the Nagaland Public Service Commission results even before it was the published on the NPSC’s website. It was informed that the results were supposed to be declared yesterday, June 4.

An NPSC official said on condition of anonymity that the issue is a “serious matter”. He said that the commission is trying its best to locate the anomaly that the results were leaked. The commission met today to discuss the issue and that the commission’s staff shall be questioned on the matter, the official said

Also, another reliable source from the commission said the results could not be declared last night because of power failure. The officials and staff had to wait for hours to resume their work normally, the source said adding that although a generator was bought recently it has yet to be installed.
