
DIMAPUR, September 1 (MExN): The Chief Secretary of Nagaland today issued a notification informing about the decision of the government to appoint Ngamjok Konyak, Joint Secretary, Justice & Law Department as one man inquiry to probe into the August 31 incident where the “dead body of one Kivikha Sumi, s/o Kavito Assumi, a resident of Kilotomi village of Zunheboto district, suspected to be a motor bike lifter, was recovered from the Kohima village Panchayat Hall by the district police and administration”.
The Chief Secretary in its notification stated that the incident was a “matter of definite public importance, having an important bearing on the maintenance of law and order in the State and that the matter requires a detailed enquiry to find out the causes and circumstances leading to the aforesaid incident and also to fix responsibilities for the incident”.
The one man inquiry will look into the causes and circumstances leading to the incident; find out the person or group of persons responsible for the incident; whether the incident could have been avoided and how; how such incidence may be avoided in future.
The enquiry shall submit its report to the State government within 30 days from the date of the publication of this notification in the official gazette. The enquiry may if it deems fit may make an interim report to the State government before the expiry of the said period, the Chief Secretary notified.
