State govt signs MoU with Cyber Apellate Tribunal

Dimapur, July 11 (MExN): A MoU was signed between the State Government and the Cyber Appellate Tribunal for setting up of Video Conferencing system to enable day to day official proceedings. This will provide litigants who opt to file appeal against the Adjudicating Authority to the Cyber Appellate Tribunal through video conferencing. Video Conferencing equipment was also handed over to the State Government.

The MoU was signed during the visit of the Cyber Appellate Tribunal, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India, members led by Justice S.K. Krishnan, Member (Judicial) and R.K. Uppal, Registrar cum- Executive Magistrate visited the State. A meeting was also held with State officials at the Chief Secretary’s Conference room chaired by Lalthara, Chief Secretary.

The meeting discussed issues relating to cyber crimes and institutional framework available under the IT Act 2000 for addressing cyber crimes and offences at the State and National level. It was also made known that the Commissioner & Secretary, IT&C is designated as the Adjudicating Officer for holding an inquiry in the manner prescribed under the IT Act.
