A State Handloom Expo 2023 under the theme “My Handloom My Pride” got underway here today at Gorkha Public Panchayat Hall, Chandmari, Kohima.
The expo was inaugurated by Sehjang Doungel, Commissioner and Secretary for Cooperation, Government of Nagaland.
Doungel described the expo as a vibrant platform to promote the weavers and cooperative sector to exhibit and sell their products.
Under the sponsorship of Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, the state handloom expo is making great efforts for the welfare of artisans, and weavers community, he said.
WEAFED managing director Gwaruno Khing highlighted the background of the Expo.
Organized by Nagaland Apex Weavers & Artisans Co-operative Federation Ltd, Dimapur (WEAFED) (Undertaking by the Government of Nagaland) and sponsored by office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi, this expo will continue till March 24 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.
The Expo registered 60 participants from Nagaland, Assam and Manipur.
