
Dimapur, November 8 (MExN): A One Week State Level Faculty Development Programme (FDP), themed “Envisioning Learning Spectrum,” commenced at Dimapur Government College (DGC) on November 7. The programme, organized by the NAAC Steering Committee and Research & Development Cell, DGC, in collaboration with the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, is being supported by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), DGC. The event, also sponsored by Bank of Baroda, Dimapur, is being conducted both online and offline to cater to a wide audience.
The inaugural session was chaired by Sedevino Jakhalu, Head of the Department of Political Science at DGC, who welcomed the participants. Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu, Coordinator of the IQAC, delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the discussions ahead.
The first session was led by Er. Daniel Meren, Additional Director of NIELIT, Dimapur, who spoke on “Artificial Intelligence Tools in Teaching Learning.” He explored various AI tools that can enhance educational efficiency and engagement, emphasizing their transformative potential in reshaping teaching methods.
The second session was chaired by Dr. I. Moakala from the Department of Economics. The session featured Lezo Putsure, Founder and CEO of Educentre School of Business, Dimapur, as the resource person. Putsure’s presentation focused on “Entrepreneurship,” where he shared insights from his own entrepreneurial journey. He encouraged educators to foster an entrepreneurial mindset in students and inspire them to explore opportunities beyond traditional government jobs.
On Day Two, Dr. Meripeni Ngully, Head of the Department of History at DGC, chaired the third session, where Dr. I. Wati Imchen, Principal of Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, discussed “Career Progression in Higher Education.” Dr. Imchen highlighted the promising career prospects in higher education, provided tips on navigating challenges in the evolving educational environment, and stressed the importance of adhering to professional ethics.
The fourth session, chaired by Lily Rino from the Department of History, featured Prof. Shiv Shankar Das, Senior Manager at NPTEL & BS Program Office, IIT Madras, as the resource person. Prof. Das discussed the “SWAYAM NPTEL Awareness” programme, explaining how the NPTEL initiative provides access to high-quality online courses through the Ministry of Education, Government of India. He also provided guidance on how to enroll for certifications through the SWAYAM-NPTEL platform.
Each session concludes with an interactive Q&A segment, allowing participants to delve deeper into the topics and address any queries they may have. The remaining sessions of the FDP will continue next week, featuring a diverse range of resource persons from various fields of expertise.
