Kohima, October 11 (DIPR): The State level monitoring cell meeting on implementation of GST in the state was held on October 24 at the Conference Hall of the Chief Secretary.
Commissioner of Taxes (Officiating), Y. Mhathung Murry gave a power point presentation on GST implementation in the state. He gave a comparative statement of pre and post GST in the state. He mentioned that the total number of VAT registered dealers as on June 30, 2017 was 6583 and the difference between total number of dealers with valid PAN as on August 5, 2017 and total number of tax payers under GST as on October 16, 2017 was 292. Comparative analysis of GST collection for the month up to August 2016 and 2017 was 2397.39.
Murry also mentioned that “The GST Dolphins” was extended to other parts of the state on October 4, 2017 as it was found absolutely necessary to extend it to other parts of the state so that every trader and taxpayer can avail the tax services from the GST Dolphins. In order to enhance overall implementation of GST in the state, refresher course was conducted so as to sharpen the core competency of the officers and staff on migration, new registration, returns and payment modules. Also, the Department of Taxes has nominated six officers for providing interface to the taxpayers, he said. The total number of newly registered dealer as on July 31, August 31 and September 30, 2017 was 1108, 2097 and 2705 respectively.
Chief Secretary, Nagaland, Pankaj Kumar, IAS, who is also the Chairman of State level monitoring cell for implementation of GST in the state conveyed his appreciation over the performance and concerted efforts rendering by GST team. He said implementation of GST in the state during the initial phase would be a problem to many.
However, he expressed his confidence that it would be a boon once we get to know its mechanism as it will avoid many check gates while making tax payment. He also urged all the Departments to get registered at the earliest since November 15, 2017 is scheduled to be the last date of registration.
