State Level National Children’s Science Congress held

Nagaland Institute of Health, Environment and Social Welfare (NIHESW) Kohima today hosted the 25th State Level National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC), 2017 here at Red Cross conference hall.  

The programme was initiated by the Ministry of Science & Technology, GoI for children between the age group of 10 and 17 years.  

Zhoi Lohe, SDO (C) Kohima, who was the chief guest, called upon the students to give their best effort in learning new things and also to be inquisitive by asking their doubts in the learning process. He urged the students to do research and ask questions like ‘what, when, where and how’ so they will come to know the facts.  

Santu Thapa, state coordinator, National Children’s’ Science said the North-East people always have phobia of asking question. He therefore encouraged the students to ask any question without hesitation so they can learn new things.  

Dr. Vizovol Mekro, honorary director, NIHESW informed that eight teams will be selected and sent to Gujarat for national level science exhibition.  

This year, the National Congress will be held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat from December 27 to 31.  

Eight projects from various schools of Nagaland were selected to represent the State at the National Congress. They are listed below in order of merit: Akina H. Awomi- Cornerstone School, Zunheboto; Wikindin- Zeliangrong Heraka School, Tening, Peren; Neingumenuo Thur- Christ King Higher Secondary School, Kohima; Kilengwi Newmai- Zeliangrong Heraka School, Tening, Peren; Dziese Rutsa- Christ King Higher Secondary School, Kohima; Nilotoli H. Chishi- Cornerstone School, Zunheboto; Centito K. Yeptho- Cornestone School, Zunheboto; Punuvi A. Assumi- Cornerstone School, Zunheboto.
