State level NCC ‘B’ certificate exam held

Dimapur, March 17 (MExN): The State level NCC `B’ Certificate Exam for the NCC Cadets of various colleges of Nagaland was conducted at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex Kohima today.  The examination was held under the Aegis of NCC Gp HQ Kohima and was conducted by 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC Kohima, which has the proud distinction of being commanded by a decorated Army Officer Colonel Paramvir Yadav, Sena Medal.
A press note issued by RK Palta, Colonel, PRO (Def) informed that a total of 100 NCC Cadets of various colleges including: Kohima Arts College; Kohima Science College, Jotsoma; Government College, Dimapur; St. Joseph College, Jakhama; Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung and Government College Zunheboto, appeared for the NCC   ‘B’ Certificate Examination from all over Nagaland, out of which there were 56 Boy Cadets (Senior Division) and 44 Girl Cadets (Senior Wing).
The examination comprised of a written examination of three hours duration which commenced at 10:00 am. The aim of the written examination was to test the NCC Cadets in various subjects such as Drill, Weapon Training, National Integration, leadership qualities, disaster management, Social Service and Ecological Awareness. This was followed by a practical examination wherein the cadets’ skills in various military subjects like Drill, Weapon Handling and Field Craft were tested on ground by the Invigilation Team under Col Paramvir Yadav, Sena Medal and comprising of Col Joy Choudhary of 66 Nagaland (I) Girls Coy NCC, Associate NCC Officer (ANO)           Lt Regina Razousinuo of St Xaviers College Zakhama, and the PI staff of various NCC units.   Col  SN  Aithal of  the NCC  Gp  HQ  Kohima  handed over the Question papers to the  Conducting Officer,  on  behalf  of the Gp HQ in a  Sealed  cover at the  exam  venue.
It is noteworthy that the holders of NCC ‘B’ Certificate are given priority for  employment by various organizations such as :  Para Military Forces, State Police Forces, PSUs  like Coal India Ltd, Air India / Indian Airlines, Indian Oil Corporation, and  corporate houses like Sahara India Parivaar, Reliance Industries and many other multi-national companies, as  also  by private  security  agencies.
The note also mentioned that Cadets of the Army / Naval and Air Wings of NCC who go on to pass the NCC `C’ Certificate Examination and have completed their graduation, also have the opportunity to appear directly for the Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview for joining the Armed Forces as commissioned officers, without having to first appear for and clear the Combined Defence Services Examination, which is mandatory for all other aspirants. As many as 64 vacancies in the Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai and 50 vacancies in the Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehra Dun are also reserved for NCC `C’ Certificate Holders for this purpose. Thus, the NCC provides an avenue for the youth, to a promising career in the Armed Forces.
