State logs 145 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths

The detection of new COVID-19 cases in Nagaland continued an upward trend with 145 new cases reported on August 4.

According to an update from the State Health and Family Welfare department, Kohima and Dimapur accounted for more than 50% of the new cases on Wednesday with 49 and 26 cases respectively.

Other districts which registered new cases included Kiphire (3), Longleng (15), Mokokchung (16), Mon (1), Peren (10), Phek (4), Wokha (6) and Zunheboto (5). With this, the State’s total caseload increased to 28,217.

Meanwhile, 79 persons also recovered from the infection on Wednesday, taking the recovery tally to 25,516.

With Mokokchung and Dimapur reporting one death each in the last 24 hours, the fatality count also increased to 565.

There are 1,321 active COVID-19 cases in the State at present, with 98 admitted in COVID hospitals and 1,168 under home isolation.
