State logs new 77 COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths

The detection of new COVID-19 cases in Nagaland continued an upward trend with 77 out of 1,061 samples testing positive on August 8, indicating a positivity rate of 7.26%.

According to an update from the State Health and Family Welfare department, Kohima and Dimapur accounted for more than 50% of the new cases on Sunday  with 28 cases each.

Other districts which registered new cases included Kiphire (1), Mokokchung (9), Phek (2), Tuensang (6), Wokha (1) and Zunheboto (2).

With this, the State’s total caseload increased to 28,628.

Meanwhile, 89 persons also recovered from the infection on Wednesday, taking the recovery tally to 25,846.

With Mokokchung reporting 2 deaths in the last 24 hours, the fatality count also increased to 571.

There are 1,380 active COVID-19 cases in the State at present, with 77 admitted in COVID hospitals and 1,238 under home isolation.
