Kohima, February 6 (MExN): The State Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for conduct of General Election to the Lok Sabha 2019, has been constituted. The committee will be headed by Chairman Abhijit Sinha, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland with the following members: one Observer appointed by the ECI; Limawati Ao, Director, Information & Public Relations; Shahu Patole, IIS Deputy Director; News, AIR, Kohima; Senior Journalist & Correspondent; Khegukha Sema, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland.
The State Level MCMC shall perform two sets of functions: Deciding appeal from both District and Addl. CEO Committees on Certification of advertisement as per the Commission order No.509/75/2004/JS-I Dated 15th April 2004 (Copy enclosed); and Examining all cases of paid news on appeal against the decision of District MCMC or cases that may take up suo motu, in which case it shall direct the concerned ROs to issue notices to the candidates.
