Status report on NPF today

Imphal, Dec ember 21 (NNN): The Election Commission of India (ECI) will send the “status report” on the Naga People’s Party (NPF) to the Government of Manipur by tomorrow and the same will be tabled in the State Assembly, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh told the ongoing Manipur legislative assembly session on Wednesday. In response to a statement made by opposition leader O. joy Singh who said that NPF was an “unconstitutional political party,” the chief minister said the ECI is seriously discussing the matter and by tomorrow it would reveal to the State government on the status report of NPF after which the matter will be discussed in the house.
Joy also queried the stand of the Union home minister on the ongoing peace talks between NSCN-IM and the Government of India in which the home minister was reported to have offered “Supra- State Body” to the Nagas. In his reply, the chief minister said in a letter sent recently to the Centre it has been strongly reaffirmed by the State government to protect the State integrity and also urged the centre not to take up any step that could disrupt the territorial integrity of Manipur.
