Stolen bike recovered; five held with arms; opium seized

DIMAPUR, MARCH 11 (MExN): A stolen motorcycle (Bajaj Discover) was recovered from Naharbari, Dimapur on March 10.
According to a press release from the Additional Superintendent of Police, Dimapur the recovery was based on an FIR about a motorcycle which went missing from the Super Market area on March 7.
Two persons were arrested in this connection. The release identified the arrested as one self styled ‘Pvt’ Athing (30 years) of the FGN and one Awoka Awomi (23 years).
The 24th Assam Rifles arrested five people in possession of illegal arms in three separate incidents on March 7, 8 and 9.
On March 9 two persons identified as one self styled ‘sgt’ Huto Yeptho of the FGN and a Rajiv Barua was arrested for possessing one 7.65 mm pistol with five rounds, during an MVCP (Mobile Vehicle Checkpost) which was set up by the 24th AR personnel at the ‘Blue Hill station’ area. A self styled ‘Khapur’ identified as one Hemanto Sumi (30 years) of the GPRN/NSCN  was caught with a 7.65 pistol from Padumpukhri.
Earlier on March 7, the AR personnel recovered ten rounds of .303 ammunitions from a silver-coloured ‘Maruti’ van (NL 07 6631) at the ‘Blue Hill station’ area. Two persons identified as one V. Khamkho Paite and a Kalyan Paite, both of Churachandpur, Manipur were arrested and handed over to the
police.  
Illicit opium weighing 1,800 kilograms was seized by personnel of the 24th AR on March 10 last from a person identified as one Zebedee Poumai. The seizure was made at the Dhansiri Bridge. The arrested hails from Tadupi, Senapati district, Manipur.
