Police caution against buying/receiving or using stolen phones
Kohima, August 29 (DIPR): Mobile loss or theft is fast becoming a regular affair owing to the increasing penetration of Information Technology into our society. The recently established Cyber Crime Police Station, which is based at the Police Headquarters, Kohima, has informed that in the past two weeks, 6 mobile phones have been recovered based on complaints received from the public. Nagaland Police has cautioned against receiving/buying or using stolen mobile phones, which is an offence under the Indian Penal Code, let alone stealing of them.
The PRO of Nagaland Police, M. Tungoe, IPS, informed that for any assistance regarding lost/stolen mobile phones, the public may contact 09485239076 or 07085377565 or nagalandpolice16@gmail.com or www.facebook.com/Nagalandpolice with their IMEI number or last used phone number for recovery. Police has further advised the public to note down their IMEI numbers and keep them in some place safe.
The IMEI number may be obtained through the following ways: Type in the short code *#06# on your mobile phone and press the call key; Remove the battery from your mobile phone and look for the code on the back of your device; Check the purchase receipt or warranty paper or the box containing the device.
