Stop ‘backdoor’ IAS induction: RPP

DIMAPUR, JUNE 7 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has urged the ruling NDPP-BJP coalition government in Nagaland to desist from what it called “backdoor entry” of candidates into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), warning that such alleged practices undermine public trust and institutional integrity.

In a statement issued on Friday, the RPP expressed solidarity with four government employees’ associations—CANSSEA, FONSESA, NSSA, and NF&ASA—who have raised objections over the reported move to induct a particular individual into the IAS outside of normal recruitment channels.

“To throw every rule book into the dustbin by inducting tom, dick and harry into the IAS through backdoor bypassing all government rules and norms is but the fruit of an oppositionless government,” the party said.

The RPP asserted that “ex-cadre” appointments, often understood to be temporary or arbitrary hires outside of the cadre service routes such as the NPSC, are at the heart of the controversy. It pointed out that a similar appointment had been made “several years back” by the same government, but at the time, “no hue and cry was raised largely because the general public was unaware, and secondly because of the then oppositionless government which was in power.”

Now that the matter is in the public domain, the RPP called on the associations to disclose the name of the officer in question and clarify whether their initial appointment was also through a backdoor route. “It seems [this person] is particularly favoured by the political establishment,” it claimed.

Describing the current situation as a “prime example of how manipulative an oppositionless government can be,” the RPP lauded the “bold” stand taken by the four associations in publicly opposing the move.

“The RPP will continue to extend its support to CANSSEA, FONSESA, NSSA, and NF&ASA, and ensure that unqualified and undeserving candidates do not pollute the system,” the party affirmed.
