‘Stop blame game & expedite matter’

NSF asks government to “make position clear” on paramedical institutes in Nagaland

KOHIMA, MAY 15 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has appealed to the Indian Institute of Para Medical Technology (IIPMT) Kohima, Institute of Management of Medical Research, Health Science and School of Nursing (IMMRHSSN) Singrijan and Para Medical Training Institute (PMTI) Industrial Estate Dimapur to withhold their admission processes until further notification is served.

This was stated in pursuance to the several representations and memorandum submitted to the Government of Nagaland to inspect the above mentioned institutes and to “make its position clear to clarify the doubts and confusion of the students and the general public,” noted the NSF in a press release from its education secretary, Bangdi Chawang and vice president, Joseph Ngouri.

The Federation reminded the Government to “expedite with all seriousness and commitment basing on the decision of the Inspection Committee Report constituted by the Government.”

While, the NSF informed, the Directorate of Higher Education, Nagaland and the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland had been shifting “responsibility for recognition” of these Para Medical institutions at the initial stage, a new actor has now been added to the imbroglio.

“To our utter surprise, the Directorate of Technical Education, Nagaland came in the midst which has created confusion to the whole of the student’s community as to which is the competent authority to recognize or de-recognize the Para Medical Institutions,” the NSF stated, also questioning whether these Departments are “serious enough in bringing out a clear direction as it has already hampered the career of many students.”

The Federation urged upon the Government to “stop the blame game” and “expedite the matter as per the decision taken at the joint Departmental Meeting held on the 6th of May 2014 convened by the Chief Secretary, Nagaland so as to solve the long pending issue as it has greatly victimize the life and career of many students.” It also cautioned “the institutions which did not fulfill the required criteria and guidelines laid down by the concern department that it shall not entertain under any circumstances or condition.”

It was informed by the NSF that due to “delay tactics” of the Government in bringing out a clear direction, IMMRHSSN Singrijan has “published in the local Dailies on 7th May 2014 and subsequently on 14th of May 2014 inviting admission for various courses.” The Federation urged upon the people to be “more vigilant” and advised aspiring candidates “not to seek admission until further notification from the government.”

It has come to the knowledge of the Federation, stated the press release, that the Government has directed the Directorate of Technical Education to serve Show Cause notice to these institutions. While appealing the said institutions to withhold their admission processes until further notification, the NSF cautioned that if admission processes were proceeded with, the institutions shall be solely responsible.
