Dimapur, July 2 (MExN): The District Health Review Meeting cum launching of Diarrhea Campaign was held at CMO’s conference hall, Dimapur on July 1.
The meeting was chaired by Dr Limatula Aier, Chief Medical Officer Dimapur. The meeting began with Dr Limatula wishing all the Doctors a Happy Doctors’ Day and urged all doctors to rededicate themselves to provide services to the best of their abilities, the CMO office stated in a press release.
Nilotoli, CHO Pimla and Vitonu Savi, CHO Deizephe presented the services provided under Health & Wellness Centers and each presented their respective HWCs’ annual performance reports. They also shared the challenges they faced w hile executing their duties.
Programme Officers including Dr Antoly Suu, Nodal Officer for CMHIS/PMJAY, Dr Benchilo, District TB Officer, Dr A Kavito Zhimomi, District Surveillance Officer and District Programme Officer (Vector Borne Diseases), Dr Lhishelo Tsuhah, Zonal Leprosy Officer and Nodal Officer of Non-Communicable Diseases, Mecievinuo, Consultant, DAPCU, Esther Thirah, DPM, NHM Dimapur highlighted the activities covered during the first quarter of the Financial Year 2024-25 and passed on important information and other upcoming activities.
During the launch of the Stop Diarrhea Campaign, Dr Rebecca, District Programme Officer for UIP and RCH presented the activities to be carried out during the campaign period. She informed that this year the campaign will last for two months viz., July and August under the theme ‘Stop Diarrhea Through Hygiene and ORS.’ She informed that all health units will install ORS corner in their respective health units which will include ORS packets, Zinc tablets, clean drinking water, five glasses and spoons, soap and wash bucket, MCP cards and leaflets.
She reoriented on Diarrhea and its prevention and management. Diarrhea is spread through contaminated food or drinking water or person to person as a result of poor hygiene; intervention to prevent diarrhea includes safe drinking water, use of improved sanitation and hand washing with soap can reduce the risk of diarrhea.
Dr Rebecca further oriented on the transitioning of (Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine) PCV-10 to PCV-14 in the Routine Immunization Schedule. She stated that dosage, schedule, 5-dose presentations, route and site of vaccination, open vial policy and even storage of PCV-14 remains the same as PCV-10. Children who have been administered with PCV-10 in the first or second round of vaccination may continue with PCV-14 in their third to fifth rounds.
Other Officials and staffs attending the meeting and launching includes Senior Medical Officers, Medical Officers in-charge of CHCs, PHCs and UPHCs, and staffs under DPMU and BPMUs.
