Chümoukedima, August 13 (MExN): Taking note of waste accumulation and litters along the NH-29 under Chümoukedima Circle, EAC Chümoukedima office has cautioned that defaulters will be penalized or called for mandatory ‘Community Service’ in lieu of the penalties so prescribed.
EAC Chümoukedima Er Seyiekhrietuo Solo in a press release stated that the office has taken note that most shops/business establishments are not maintaining their premises resulting in accumulation and scattering of waste/litter along the NH-29 under Chümoukedima Circle. It also observed that due to improper/careless disposal of waste, the storm water drainages are being completely clogged.
It has also been observed that due to the unchecked scattering of sand from dumpers/trucks especially at the entry/exit of Sand Mahals, the carriage way is now almost completely lined with sand resulting in a lot of dust pollution and inconvenience for the commuters as well as pedestrians on National Highway-29, the EAC stated.
Therefore, in the interest of public service, the EAC has directs all villages/village councils along the NH-29 four lane stretch to ensure that all shops/business establishments mandatorily observes certain directives without fail.
All shops/business establishments will mandatorily clean the space/area around the shops on a daily basis. The proprietors will be held responsible for any litter/waste found in the premises of the shop/business establishment during inspections. All waste will be disposed off in a proper manner. Anyone found throwing garbage into the storm water drains will be strictly dealt with.
The AEC also added that as a lot of sand is left behind by trucks/dumpers and scattered on the highway and the footpath around the exit/entry of sand mahals on the highway, the proprietors will ensure that the immediate periphery Le 10 (Ten) metres to the left of the exit/entry and 10 (Ten) metres to the right of the exit/entry is swept dean on a daily basis. Sand mahal proprietors will also ensure that the sand is stocked at a suitable distance from the footpath.
