STPF seeks urgent replacement of damaged transformer, equipment in Shamator

Shamator, May 5 (MExN): The Shamator Town Public Forum (STPF) has submitted a joint representation to the Department of Power, Nagaland, seeking immediate intervention following the damage of a 33kV transformer at the Power Transmission Centre in Shamator on May 3.

Addressed to the Engineer-in-Chief through the Deputy Commissioner of Shamator, the representation highlighted the urgent need for replacement of the damaged transformer and additional support measures to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the district.

The five key demands by STPF, representing joint NGOs in the area, included immediate replacement of the 33kV transformer at the Shamator power transmission centre.

It also called for the provision of a digital maker machine for checking current supply at various points, especially during emergencies and disruptions.

The STPF also called for upgradation of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Power) Office at Shamator from Junior Engineer Division to ensure smooth district-level power management.

The demands also included allocation of a pool vehicle to facilitate departmental operations and emergency responses, and construction of a staff duty room at the 33kV station, complete with necessary materials and equipment to support smooth services.

The Forum underlined that Shamator, being the district headquarters and the lone power transmission supply point, serves many villages.

The transformer damage has left several areas without power, causing significant hardship to residents, it said.

Accordingly, the STPF urged for prompt and sympathetic action by the concerned authorities, and to treat the matter with urgency and resolve the crisis to restore essential services.
