Stress awareness week program held at Northfield HSS 

DIMAPUR, MAY 24 (MExN): The Carl Rogers Institute of Mental Health and School Counselling in collaboration with the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, National Mental Health Program, organized the third day of ‘Stress Awareness Week’ program at Northfield Hr. Sec. School, Kohima. Zhazo Mere and Anupam Kohli were the resource persons for the day. 

Zhazo spoke to the students about who Carl Rogers is and how his therapy came to be known. There are different types of stress which includes acute stress, post traumatic-stress, psycho-social stress and so on. 

Stress that goes uncontrolled are accompanied by physical and psychological symptoms like stomach irritations, palpitations, forgetfulness etc. Anupam spoke to the teachers about how stress affects us both physically and psychologically. 

The first step to maintain our mental health includes identifying and becoming aware about the sources of our stress, he said. Both the resource persons mentioned that maintaining a healthy diet, journalling, physical exercise, breathing exercises, having mindful me-time are some activities that can help with controlling stress.
