Kohima, May 23 (MExN): The second day of ‘Stress Awareness Week’ by Carl Rogers Institute of Mental Health and School Counselling Kohima in collaboration with the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, National Mental Health Program, took place at Government Middle School, T.Khel, Kohima village on May 23.
Vetalu Nyekha and Thelu Pohena were the resource persons.
Nyekha spoke to the teachers about how teaching is one of the stressful jobs and that one needs to learn how to balance work life with life outside of work. She also mentioned about some healthy ways to cope with stress including physical exercise, meditation and to talk to a friend or a therapist.
Pohena spoke to the students about the different types and signs of stress and how important it is to manage stress.
She mentioned some strategies that can be used to manage stress that can come from family, caregivers or school. She also talked about how stress can affect us both physically and psychologically. The programme ended with an interactive session with the teachers and group discussion with the students
