Kohima, April 13 (MExN): Sparks from electrical wires caused a forest fire in Puliebadze Wildlife Sanctuary on April 13 around 2:30 pm due to the strong winds occurring in Kohima and adjoining areas for the past few days.
Keneikrul, Range Officer, Puliebadze Wildlife Sanctuary & Tragopan Breeding Centre in a press release said that the proactive role played by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services brought the devastating forest fire, which almost spread to residential areas, under control after 1 hour and 40 minutes fight by the personnel of the department. “The brave hearts had to venture into the thick rough terrain up to about 200 meters to control the fire,” the Range Officer said with apparent appreciation of the fire personnel.
