Dimapur, March 3 (MExN): Student bodies in Dimapur have appealed the Nagaland State Public Works Department (R&B) to repair the road from 4th mile (Central Jail) Dimapur to Niuland at the earliest.
The Niuland Area Students' Union and Ato Area Students' Union in a joint statement appended by its presidents, Yepeto Aye and H Hisaka Kibami said that the road considered as one of “the busiest among the adjoining town under the district is in a very deplorable condition.”
The unions observed that the said road “serves as an important lifeline for more than 60 villages and also used as an alternate route to Kohima.”
“During the monsoon season, the road turns into riverbed where the commuters undergo untold hardships,” it added.
In this regard, the student bodies appealed the Department concerned to prioritize the road and “treat it as special case and initiate major road repair at the earliest.”
