Mon, May 31 (MExN): Mon district celebrated World No Tobacco Day on May 31 under the theme ‘Tobacco and Heart Diseases’ with participation of students and teachers from seven schools, societies, doctors and staffs from National Health Mission (NHM).
Dr Wungyong Konyak, Medical Specialist DH Mon explained on the causes of tobacco and its effects on the heart and a brief PowerPoint presentation on the achievement survey of NTCP, under Nagaland was shared by Dr I Simon Sumi, District Nodal Officer Mon.
Meanwhile, special invitee, Honang Jesuhu, General Secretary, Konyak Union also shared his life experience on how he got involved with tobacco during his younger years as the room was filled with youngsters aged between 15 to 19 years. Jesuhu later thanked the medical team for organising the programme in reaching out to the people and giving awareness to the younger generation. He also assured that any kind of programmes in the future that leads to good deeds will always be supported by the Konyak Union.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Supongmeren, Gynecologist DH Mon which started with an invocation prayer by Y P David, Chaplin DH Mon and vote of thanks by Dr Nephrezo, Jr Dental Surgeon CHC Aboi.
