Students in Mon sensitized on climate change and possible impact on crops

Mon, October 11 (MExN): An awareness- cum- sensitization programme on ‘Climate Change, variability and impact of kharif season crops and visit of school students’ was conducted on October 11 at KVK Office Aboi and Farmers Field by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mon.
The programme was held under the National Innovations of Climate Resilient in Agriculture-Technology Demonstration components (NICRA-TDC) in the presence of Hangpa Konyak and Pangnyei Konyak, teacher from Government Middle School, Ngangching Village.
Dr MS Sachan, ACTO (Plant Breeding) KVK Mon (Aboi) in a press release stated that the main purpose of the programme was to raise awareness and sensitize the school students about the issues related to climate change and possible impact on crops with performance of resilient practices in farmer’s field.
The programme was led by Dr. Manoj Singh Sachan, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (Plant Breeding) explains related to climate change, global warming and their impact of crops and livestock. Meanwhile, many resilient practices were shown in farmers field as well as KVK Instructional farm such as soybean (JS 335), paddy (Direct Seeding of Rice), Tapioca, large cardamom, nursery raising of winter vegetable crops, low cost poultry and pig demonstration units etc.

Altogether, 51 school students and teachers from Ngangching- NICRA Adopted Village attended the programme.
