Hundreds of students from all private schools in Kiphire town came out to the streets with face painting, placards and slogans under the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ to join the global World Environment Day. The event was organised by Kiphire District Private Schools Association (KDPSA).
Speaking at the programme and welcoming the gathering, KDPSA Secretary, Lipichem shared on the theme and said, “All of us should say no to plastic which is affecting not only our lives but the environment.” He called upon the students to help improve the health of the environment by avoiding plastics. He also said, “The small initiative we take as students today will have large impact in the global needs. Therefore, one should be sensitive to the need of the surrounding if one has to make a healthy society.”
Kiusang, Forest Ranger who also present on the occasion addressed the students and asked to plant trees especially on day like this and shared on the importance of plantation.
During the event, members from Nehru Yuva Kendra and Kiphire Green Conservers (KGC) distributed flowering and decorative plants to all the institution in the town.
The programme was followed by conducting mass social work to all parts of the town.
