Students trained on being ‘smart consumers’ in Chunlikha

Students and others during the consumer awareness programme held at Jireh School, Chunlikha on May 11.

Kohima, May 12 (MExN): The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Office of the Assistant Controller for Kohima and Tseminyu districts, organised a consumer awareness programme on May 11 at Jireh School, Chunlikha. Students and staff from Government High School, Chunlikha, also participated.

Focusing on the theme ‘Smart Consumer,’ the resource person, Shiloh Kath (Deputy Controller), explained what it means to be a smart and responsible consumer. 

According to him, a smart consumer is someone who knows their rights and responsibilities, is well-informed, makes careful decisions, checks labels and declarations, is financially and quality conscious, and asserts their rights using the Consumer Protection Act and its mechanisms.

The programme was chaired by Khrowele Magh, Headmistress of Jireh School, and a vote of thanks was delivered by Er Silo Jemu, Inspector for Kohima North and Tseminyu.
