Students walk ‘silent march’ against TB

Tuensang, Match 24 (MExN): World TB Day was observed at Traffic Point Junction Tuensang on March 24 on the theme ‘Unite to end TB’ organized by CHAI PROJECT AXSHYA in collaboration with IDS and RNTCP, Government of Nagaland.   Highlights of the event included silent march with slogans by the five schools namely Christ King School, Loyem Memorial School and Degree College and Akum Imlong School Tuensang for mass public awareness on TB.  

Dr. Sungmo Chang, Deputy CMO highlighted on TB symptoms, treatment, stigma attached to TB patients and urged all the NGOs, Government Departments to support the cause of TB in the district. She added that TB is one of the deadliest killer diseases but it can be cured if treated on time.  

Debashish, Principal Loyem Memorial School Tuensang express his experiences on how TB advocacy by CHAI PROJECT AXSHYA remind him of his own school student who missed her dose and went to follow up her regular dose after attending advocacy at School recent year by the CHAI District coordinator.  

Nokshang Chang, President CKS expressed his feelings for TB patients who are fighting for their life with the RNTCP approved DOTS and urged the patient to complete the treatment without interruption as it is curable and one can live a healthy life.
