Dimapur, October 10 (MExN): Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), on behalf of all citizens reprimand the concerned department to immediately repair the “horrible” stretch of NH 29, Purana Bazar section which is an harassment to all travelers and commuters and an embarrassment to Naga people.
“Dimapur is the gateway of Nagaland and Manipur and apart from local traffic, hundreds of interstate vehicles pass through NH 29 everyday but the road is yet to be repaired even after a lapse of two (2) weeks, stated a press release issued by DNSU Vice President Likalo Letro and Assistant General Secretary Toniho Achumi. The Union stated that this stretch of road may be short in length but it is reflective of the malaise of crumbling infrastructure and the citizens, particularly students suffer undue hardship in reaching their respective institution(s) on time due to the harsh traffic constriction in that area, which ultimately hamper their educational career.
“If NH 29 could be so neglected prompting, the Governor of Nagaland to pass adverse remarks and asking the R&B Minister to intervene, probably it is beyond our imagination the state of roads in interior districts. As citizens of this beautiful State, every concerned citizen should be ashamed that we choose to live with such aberration and suffer in silence,” the Union added.
DNSU demands that the road be repaired within 15 days from the publication of this press release after which DNSU will take action as it deems fit for non-compliance. Also, DNSU warns the concerned authorities not to pass the buck as regards the jurisdiction of NH 29. “When a person is drowning, it is not the job of fire services alone nor do we wait for them but everyone tries to save that person,” the Union added.
