Study team on NER 2020 to meet state officials

KOHIMA, MAY 10 (DIPR): In connection with the study on North Eastern Region (NER) 2020, a two member official study team from the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP) have arrived at Kohima. The team will have a meeting with state government officials under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary at 9:30 am in the Conference Hall of the Chief Secretary, Nagaland Secretariat on May 11.

Various departments are likely to be grouped in the following four groups for efficient utilization of the time. The suggested grouping format is:

1. Finance and Planning, Human Development (Education, Health and Basic Services) and Labour and Employment
2. Agri and Allied Sectors, Medicinal Plants and Herbs, Environment, Food Processing, and Panchayati Raj Institution/Traditional Institution, Water, Electricity, Roads & Transport and any other sector.

They are to meet the first two groups from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm and the remaining two groups in the afternoon from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm For any follow ups, they would meet officials in the morning of May 12.

The team expressed desire to meet representatives of NGOs, journalists and academicians to make the report more broad based. During the meeting, officials are requested to share the following information – most recent statistical abstract of the state, Approach Paper to the 11th Plan which has already been submitted to the Planning Commission, any recent studies or surveys including the Budget Speech of the Chief Minister, information on the initiatives and those planned for future.

This morning they visited Tuophema and Khonoma to see communitisation in Health, Education and Power. They will also visit Dispur and Gangtok for the same consultations.
