• Sir-Congratulations on the production and launch of The Morung Express. I must admit that your website morungexpress.com has come a long way since I last visited it, which was a couple of days after its launch. The content is outstanding and impeccable, and the logo and motto look fantastic. Having said that, there’s nothing like a perfect website and there’s nothing like a perfect suggestion either, however, there’s always room for improvement.
The biggest problem with bringing up websites in this day and age is that originality in cyber space seems to have taken a back seat. The simple reason being that every new kid on the block seems to find a way to put up a web site.
Therefore the question one must ask ourselves is what does this web site have that others don’t? Or on a larger scale, what does The Morung Express have that others don’t.
As of now, what I see is a whole lot of content, various sections of the paper neatly divided and some interesting news. It may sound good, but it’s just not enough.
There are too many sections which can easily be combined with others. For example Local Sports and Entertainment can be one section. I’m saying this simply because if I was the reader, I wouldn’t want to be reading a 50 page newspaper. I might as well read a novel.
Regional and Local News can easily be one section instead of dividing it. Now obviously if you try and combine some sections the paper will look as though it doesn’t have enough content sections. However it can be replaced with other sections.
The last time I wrote to The Morung Express, I suggested the use of pictures; however I do realize that getting a photographer isn’t easy and it’s not feasible to have one photographer traveling all over the state or country and it’ll be an added financial burden for a production. You’re living in a State with insurmountable talent, especially in art, therefore a cartoon section can be added, or a joke section.
Something light for the readers so that they don’t leave the website with a million thoughts about all the news they read. A thought for the day on your front page isn’t a bad idea either.
The entire idea is to appeal to the public, give them something they’ve never seen before and something they’ve always wanted. Just like there’s more to life than just living it, there should be more to a newspaper than just news.
Needless to say you’ve done a spectacular job. Though changes can’t take place over night, they’re essential for growth. Wishing you all the best with your paper.
