DIMAPUR, AUG 24 (MExN): The Dimapur Sumi Baptist Akukuhou (DSBA) successfully completed the ‘One Week Counseling Training for HIV/AIDS Care Givers’ recently. The training was jointly organized by NEDHIV Care Centre, Dimapur District AIDS Control Committee (DDAC) and was conducted at the DSBA Conference Hall.
The inaugural programme was graced by Hekali Zhimomi, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur. She congratulated the DSBA for being the first Church to organize such a programme.
She also said that such an initiative would set an example for other churches in the district to follow. She expressed hoped that through the united efforts of the different organizations and with the participation of churches people would be able to prevent the disease from escalating.
The programme began with a prayer by Qhevili, Women Association leader, DSBA. This was followed by a welcome speech by Hotoli Kinimi, Counselor, DSBA. She highlighted the importance of the Church’s role in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS.
The resource persons for the training programme were Fr. Joe Ngakhuchung, Director NEDHIV, Jacinta Telen, Project Coordinator, OASIS (NEDHIV), Averista, Coordinator, PCI and Hotoli Kimini, Counselor DSBA.
At the end of the training session, an action plan was drawn up by the participants who were divided into nine groups according to their colonies. The plan comprises of the following goals and objectives.
At the concluding function, 36 trainees who received participation certificates took an oath to responsibly and faithfully carry out their action plan.. They were blessed by Rev. Inaho G. Swu, senior Pastor, DSBA.
