DIMAPUR, MARCH 28 (MExN): In keeping with the legacy of the identical ethnic and historical background being preserved by the Chakhesang and Sumi community, the two pledged to remain in ‘one fraternity of brotherhood’.
To strengthen the bilateral relationship both the communities represented by the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO), Sumi Hoho, Phek District GBs Association, Zunheboto GBs Association, Sumi Totimi Hoho, Chakhesang Mothers Association (CMA), SKK, Chakhesang Students Union (CSU) and Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) converged at Dzulhami village and signed the joint declaration on March 25 by S. Rotokha President Sumi Hoho and Vedayi Nyekha President CPO.
7-point joint declaration
- In order to realize the joint declaration the meeting reiterates the Zunheboto Resolution No. 1 dated 11/11/1995 which relates to inter-village land disputes and its amicable settlement outside the State law courts which was partially implemented and resolved to have the introspection and pursue the same.
- The Zunheboto Resolution No 2 dated 11/11/1995 with regard to cultural exchange between the two communities will be pursued.
- Resolved to sincerely uphold Zunheboto resolution No 3 (2) relating ‘to oppose atrocities, culture of killing and violation of human rights’.
- The CPO is requested to ensure the security of travelers passing through particularly Chozouba and Chetheba areas.
- The Sumi Hoho recognizes the abrogation of Shillong Accord of 1975 by the FGN and acknowledges the un-stinted support of CPO to the repudiation. Therefore, in the opinion of the meeting there is no reason why all the section or groups who, in principle, opposed to Shillong Accord should not come together and get united.
- The meeting strongly resolved to support any group or section who initiates steps for reconciliation and unity of the Nagas.
- The CPO and Sumi Hoho will convene a meeting of Western Sumi Hoho and Dimapur Chakhesang Hoho in Dimapur area for the purpose of addressing to the issues facing the two communities in Dimapur and adjoining areas.
