Sumi Cultural Troupe from Ghokimi Cultural Society, Pughoboto today performed Akikiti (kick fighting/combat) during “Cultural Connect” programme at 24th Hornbill Festival 2023 at Kisama. It is a semi- combat game involving kicking and blocking with the soles of the feet. It is a traditional Sumi sport played inside a circular ring on the ground and is normally played between two fighters. It is usually played during festive occasions like Tuluni, Ahuna, Tixini etc. The young boys were trained the art of self- defence. The fittest and ultimate winners were awarded and speculated to be a great warrior.
