
DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 16 (MExN): A joint meeting of Sumi Hoho and Kyong (Lotha) Hoho was held on November 29 last in connection with the fatal incident of November 28 which led to the death of Lusheto Shohe of Philimi village. Both Hohos agreed on certain points for settlement of the dispute, informed a joint press release issued by the president of Sumi Hoho, Hokishe Yepthomi and chairman of Kyong (Lotha) Hoho, Yansathung Jami. It was decided at the meet to settle the case outside the court and to impose fine upon the villagers of Mungya village who went hunting in the ‘banned area’. It was also settled that fine would be imposed upon the Mungya Village Council for non-compliance to the Philimi Village Council’s resolution. Further it was also decided to imposed fine on Renben Ngullie, son of Samuel Ngullie of Mungya village for the killing of Lusheto Shohe, son of Dokhuvi Shohe of Philimi village and added that henceforth, the two villages were directed by the two tribal bodies not to cross their respective jurisdiction for hunting purposes. Failure to remain in their own jurisdiction would result in imposition of fine amounting to Rs 25, 000, stated the release.
The two tribal bodies also expressed appreciation to the Head GB and the elders of Philimi village, the district administration and police department of both Zunheboto and Wokha districts for their prompt and ‘sagacious intervention’ and thus controlling the situation from escalating.
