Sunshine Orchestra Nagaland Chapter to participate in ‘Concert for Friendship’

Kohima, February 25 (MExN): Sunshine Orchestra Nagaland Chapter today left Nagaland for Chennai to join the upcoming ‘Concert for Friendship.’
Being organized by Dr AR Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory and British Council in Chennai, this event is a part of the India/UK Together - Season of Culture.

The team of Sunshine Orchestra Nagaland Chapter consist eight violin students.

This “Concert for Friendship” will bring together over 100 young musicians and will feature works of classical composers, as well as Scottish melodies, Naga and Tamil folk songs and Carnatic melodies.

It will take place from February 25 till March 4 at Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall, Chennai.

Mention may be made that the eight violin students selected from Nagaland for the Music Residency and concert are from Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home.

“This is such an inspirational story. From a humble orphanage to an international platform. Dreams are meant to be fulfilled! All of you deserve it. Our prayers are with you. Shine brighter,” Abu Metha twitted.

Indigo also took twitter to welcome the kids at Dimapur Airport.

The Sunshine Orchestra Nagaland Chapter is a music project initiated by Dr. AR Rahman and the state government and under the patronage of AR Rahman Foundation and Task Force for Music & Arts, Government of Nagaland.
