Dimapur, February 18 (MExN): Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education & Electoral Participation) was held at Pranabananda Women’s College (PWC), Dimapur on February 17.
The programme was organised by the Central Bureau of Communication Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Field Office, Kohima in collaboration with IQAC, PWC Dimapur, stated a DIPR report.
Addressing the programme, DC Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal, IAS said, ‘with the Nagaland Election drawing near, all the state government officials from the chief electoral officer to DC, SP, and Commissioner of Police are all functional in this Election Commission of India.
“Whatever direction comes from the Election Commission of India we are here to assure that the direction is implemented in the high and true spirit and assure the voters to cast their vote free and fair manner,” he asserted.
The DC also noted that young voters are the prime voters who have the right to vote for their future. He urged the residents of the Lhomithi colony in Dimapur to come and cast more votes as in the last election it has the lowest turnout with 58%. The welcome address was delivered by Swamiji Chinmoyanandaji Maharaj, Joint Secretary PWC, vote of thanks by P Sophie. Winners of the extempore competition were also felicitated.
