SEYOCHUNG, MARCH 18 (MExN): The Seyochung Village Students' Union (SVSU) has raised concerns regarding the lack of Aadhaar cards among students in the area, impacting their ability to register in the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (AAPAR) portal.
In a representation addressed to the ADC Seyochung, the Union highlighted that during a visit to St Mary High School in Seyochung Town and Government High School in Seyochung Village on March 17, it identified that around 200 out of 493 students at St Mary High School did not have Aadhaar cards. Additionally, at Government High School Seyochung Village, 24 out of 30 students were found to be without Aadhaar cards.
The absence of these essential identification documents is affecting students' academic records and access to various educational benefits, it stated. To mitigate this issue, the SVSU suggested the establishment of a permanent Aadhaar Enrollment Centre in Seyochung Town. It asserted that such a facility would facilitate the enrollment process for both students and residents, ensuring better access to necessary documentation.
Calls for action on poor labour conditions
The SVSU has also raised an urgent concern regarding the working conditions at the ongoing metalling road project between Sitimi and Seyochung HQ in Kiphire district.
In another representation addressed to Assistant Labour Officer, Kiphire, the Union called for immediate intervention due to the unsatisfactory and hazardous conditions faced by the labourers involved in the project.
According to the SVSU, the workers are being deprived of basic amenities such as safe drinking water, proper sanitation, and adequate shelter. These deficiencies, the Union claimed, are contributing to unsafe and unhealthy working and living environments for the labour force.
It has urged the relevant authorities to address these issues to ensure the welfare and safety of the workers.
