Swachh Bharat National Convenor inaugurates office in Nagaland

Dimapur, March 19 (MExN): The National Convenor of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Yashwant Singh Darbar, who is also the National Vice President of BJP ST Morcha and Director of Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Ltd., Government of India, inaugurated the Nagaland State Swachh Bharat office at NST colony, Dimapur on March 19.   Yashwant Singh is in Nagaland accompanied by Veronica TK Savanai, National Social Media Committee Convenor and ST Morcha Convenor of Swachh Bharat Manipur and Akshay Shah, NGOs Forum representative as part of North East Swachh Bharat Abhiyan tour.  

Before the inaugural event, he held a meeting with Minister of PHE Jacob Zhimomi.  

A meeting with BJP State office bearers, State frontals, District Swachh Bharat committees was also held at Hotel Saramati, where Veronica explained in detail the national Swachh Bharat programme and highlighted the efforts all over the country, particularly in the North East, stated a press release from BJP Nagaland State general secretary, Jaangsillung Gonmei.  

The National Convenor Yashwant then spoke in length of the Prime Minister's determined efforts to keep the nation clean, the release said. He explained the various efforts already undertaken nationwide and the programmes that are to be taken up to clean the country. He expressed happiness that party workers of the state are also very involved and striving a lot to achieve the goal of a clean country, it added.  

The release further said that a pledge was taken by all the participants to clean one's own surroundings at least 6 hours a day daily and restrain oneself from littering as well as prevent others from doing so.  

Yashwant Singh further called upon all to be a part of Clean India campaign and asked to participate in the mass cleanliness programme on March 20 from 6:00 am to 9:00 am at Dimapur Civil Hospital and the surroundings of Dimapur Commerce College.  

On the same day, an interactive programme on Swachh Bharat will be held with the government departments, Dimapur Municipal Council, NGOs and other public leaders, BJP State Office Bearers, State Frontals, Swachh Bharat Ambassadors, District Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Committee members at 1:30 pm at Tourist Lodge.  

The visiting team will thereafter meet the Governor.  

Meeting with ST Morcha Meanwhile, the Nagaland Bharatiya Janata Party ST Morcha had a closed door meeting with Yashwant Singh Darbar at Hotel Saramati on March 19.  

The meeting, which deliberated on the various tribal welfare schemes supposed to be implemented in the State, proposed to urge the Government to take up tribal infrastructures such as tribal market, tribal museum, tribal library etc, according to another press release from BJP Nagaland ST Morcha president, Vineizo Tsurho. The meeting also felt the necessity of bifurcating Tribal Department from the Planning and Co-ordination department so as to avail maximum benefit from the Centre, i.e., Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the release added.  

Yashwant Singh, it said, assured to urge the Chief Minister and Deputy CM to take up the development of tribals of Nagaland more efficiently and on priority.
