Dimapur, February 19 (MExN): The GB Union Dimapur (S) and Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) on Saturday called on the Naga people, asking them not to patronise ‘dubious people’ who indulge in business monopolies and other practices that drain the state’s economy.
In a joint press release, the two organisations stated that “Naga society has been burdened too much and pushed to its acceptable limit due to multiple taxation; menace of syndicate system; and business monopolies, leading to skyrocketing price rise.”
Referring to the recent arrest of “the kingpin of transport syndicate in Dimapur,” the organisations, while lauding the Dimapur Police force, stated that “there are many more people involved in these sorts of manipulative coercive syndicate menace operating to control the entire business system.”
“To do away with such unscrupulous gangsters indulging in syndicates system, the district administration and police must thoroughly investigate and stringent exemplary punishment should be given to the culprits under the law,” it said.
The GBUD and DUCCF also lauded the two Naga women entrepreneurs for filing FIR against the culprit while encouraging other business setups to do the same without fear so that elements of market monopoly can we wiped out and a healthy open market can flourish in the state.
The present situation of disparity in the state needs to be addressed by every section of people collectively, be it the government, national workers, CSOs and unions, in order to have a vibrant society, it said, while cautioning that a day will dawn when the common people would have no option but to retort.
“The two-organisation representing the citizens of more than 90 colonies within the Dimapur Sadar assures full cooperation to police department and district administration in tackling anti-social elements evolving like a cancerous cell in our society,” the release stated.
