TaFMA announces 35 bands for Hornbill Music Festival 2021

Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) is conducting the Hornbill Music Festival in two venues – Naga Heritage Village Kisama and Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA) Jotsoma.

The Hornbill Music Festival has engaged 35 bands with about 200 musicians for performing and entertaining the visitors at both the venues, said Advisor for TaFMA advisor Theja Meru while briefing media persons at The Heritage, Kohima. Of the 35 bands, three bands are from outside the State – Dossers Urge & Soulmate from Shillong and Girish and the Chronicles from Sikkim, he said.

With 95% of the bands being locals, we are proud that we have so many good acts which can be presented to the world, he said. At RCEMPA, it is not just about music concerts but the new addition is Hornbill Music pop-up and busking which starts at 3:00 PM daily, he said. In this, Meru invited all the music fans and to be part of the festival.

The Hornbill Music Festival is managed by Imagi.Nation and Livenow.

The big stage will start from December 6 with Dossers Urge Shillong and Polar Lights Dimapur taking the stage. On December 7, it will be WIZ Kohima and Soulmate Shillong. On December 8, three bands Big Dance Rapper from Dimapur, Sunep Lemtur singer and YouTuber from Dimapur and Street Stories, Dimapur will take the stage while on December 9 it will be About Us, Wokha and one of the most famous and longest surviving classic rock band in India – Girish and the Chronicles will rock the stage.

TaFMA project director Dr Hovithal Sothu said that all preventive measures against COVID-19 are put in place while there are also signage around the RCEMPA appealing all to follow Covid appropriate behavior, specially using of mask.

Livenow director Atsung Jamir with Secretary Burakum Ao and Imagi.Nation officials Keza and Kevi were also present during the media briefing.
