DIMAPUR, JUNE 4 (MExN): The Yimkhiung Akherti Arihako (YAA) held the launching programme of the M Chuba Meritorious Award at the Hotel Saramati, Dimapur on June 3. 

The award is instituted under the platform of the Yimkhiung Akherti Arihako (YAA) aided by the family members of Lt M Chuba. The award is given to one of the highest mark scorers among the Yimkhiung students in the HSLC examination under the Nagaland Board of School Education. The award contains Rs 1,00,000 in cash, a certificate, and a memento. 

Takamoli Yimchunger, a native of Pungro village who studied at Little Flower School, Pungro, bagged the prestigious award for the year 2023 after his resounding success by scoring 96% and securing the top 18th position. 

The event was conducted with Obed Quinker, Chairman, Nagaland Honey Mission as Special Guest and Kihomong Yimchunger, NCS, EAC Chare, as Plenary Speaker. In the programme, a welcome note was given by Keyoungkhum, President of YAA. The memoir of Lt M Chuba and the background of the award were articulated by Dr Birimong, son of Lt M Chuba. 

Tekamoli Yimchunger, recipient of the award for 2023, enunciated his journey to securing the top 18th position. A representative from the Yimkhiung Tribal Council, the Eastern Naga Students' Federation, the Yimkhiung Gazetted Officers' Association, and the Western Yimkhiung Hoho delivered short speeches. The congregation was enthralled by a special presentation by Toshi Yim. Words of gratitude were spoken by Kiuthrun C Yimchunger, Vice President of YAA. 

Rev Athsan, Pastor, YBC Dimapur pronounced an intercession prayer, while Dr James, Pastor, YBC Dimapur and Ningtsamong Association, Youth Pastor, YBC Chumoukedima said the invocation and benediction during the event. The event was chaired by N Leinchimong Thongleh, Speaker, YAA.
