DIMAPUR, JAN 2 (MExN): Tangkhul Baptist Association Nagaland (TBAN), expressing shock over two cadres belonging to the NSCN-IM physically assaulting Rev. K. Luruo, Secretary of Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) on December 30, offers its sincere apology to the victim and CBCC.
TBAN apologized and sought forgiveness from Rev. K. Luruo and the CBCC for the assault as much for the reason that one of the cadres involved in the assault happen to be a TABAN member and from the tribe as well. “For such act, we are ashamed before God and men” stated the association’s President, Rev. Joshua Zimik. “If an ordained Church leader is not safe even in his own mission station, nobody is safe”, he lamented.
Also, Pfutsero Town Council (PTC), expressing shock over the threat and attack on Rev. Khrutsoyi Luruo and his family by NSCN (IM) cadres, has expressed pain that the assault has wounded tribal sentiments of the people. The reverend was assaulted by the cadres under Pfutsero ‘Town Command’ of the NSCN-IM at the official residence of T Chikri, Pfutsero town.
In a statement issued through its Chairperson, PTC held opinion that the assault on the reverend has deeply wounded tribal sentiments. The PTC while expressing solidarity with CBCC, CPO, CYA, CSU and CMA condemned the assault as ‘irrational and inhumane act’ in the strongest terms.
The PTC, on behalf of the general public, further appeals to concerned authorities to award appropriate punishment to the culprits involved in the assault to avoid repetition of such ‘irrational acts’ in future. It also appeals to all “national workers”, to abide by the ground rules of ceasefire with GOI and as well as the adopted public resolutions of Pfutsero town for public peace and tranquility.
