Tangkhul bodies appeal to NSCN (K) to revoke ‘Quit Notice’

DIMAPUR, DEC 20 (MExN): The Tangkhul Naga Long and all headmen of the community have requested the NSCN (K) to revoke the ‘Quit Notice’ served particularly on Tangkhuls residing in Nagaland. TNL President, Stephen Angkang, and President of the Tangkhul Naga Villages Headman Association, AS Patrick, today informed in a release that a consultative meeting between members of the two organizations was held on December 14 wherein, after serious deliberations, it was “unanimously agreed vide Resl. No. 3 to request the NSCN (K), in a spirit of forgive and forget to revoke the Quit Notice.”

The statement said the request was made in the larger interest of the Naga society “fighting for the right to self determination and national cause.” The organizations hoped that the authority concerned will act in conformity with the request. Further, it was informed that during the December 14 meeting, a one minute silence was observed for those Tangkhuls killed in Nagaland from 1993 onwards and after the ‘Quit Notice’ “with sad heart.”
