Tanishq opens store in Nagaland

Renowned Indian jewellery brand, Tanishq officially entered into Nagaland by opening its first store at 2½ Mile, Darogapathar, Dimapur on June 15 with Vijesh Rajan, Head of Retail at Tanishq being invited as the special guest. 
This makes it the 9th store of the company to be opened across the North-east region with six stores in Assam along and one each at Manipur and Tripura. 

Speaking on the sidelines, Rajan told The Morung Express that prior to venturing into a new market; the company surveys its competition, customer preference, jewellery sales and on other retail outlets be it automobile, apparel and the like. “This is to see how developed the market is, along with bench marks such as income levels of a population,” he said. “If we believe that there is a market for Tanishq, then getting the property and location right is the most significant aspect of it all.” 

In regard to Dimapur, he mentioned that the place holds considerable potential for further growth, egged on by a burgeoning consumer class. “We wanted to be the first national jewellery brand to be here,” he added. 

On a side note, Rajan also praised the friendly and hospitable nature of the Naga people along with embracing a high sense of design and fashion sensibility comparable to international standards. 

Another aspect which the brand could leverage was on the wedding culture in Nagaland, he viewed, as it was one of its biggest investment categories. Customizing designs and motifs suitable to the taste of the local consumer would certainly be prioritised. 

“We hope that customers will come and visit this beautifully designed store as it offers a large assortment of styles ranging from rings, bracelets, chains and ear studs crafted from gold, platinum and diamonds,” he said. 

The store also possesses a Karatmeter, specifically to test the purity of each gold item bought from within and outside the store. He added that an exchange program would further allow customers to bring in their old jewelleries in-exchange for a new one. 

We build our business on trust, purity of products exceptional designs which had been missing in the industry for many years, he said.     

The Dimapur store is to be staffed by 14 employees in total. Each of the employees has undergone a rigorous training programme to provide the best and uniform service available everywhere. 

According to the company, they were currently spread across 220 different cities in India.
