Tapi Bridge to connect more than 40 villages

SPangnyu Phom, Advisor DUDA & NEPED inaugurated Tapi Bridge on November 29. The bridge will effectively connect more than 40 villages including Tobu areas and Tuensang District. It will also reduce the travelling time to Mon by more than three hours. Moreover the valley around the bridge which is a very fertile region stands to be benefitted greatly as this project provides the much needed linkage to Mon town.  

During the inaugurating programme, Pangnyu asserted that “the Naga Political Settlement solution is a government commitment and to achieve this goal all NNPGs, Public, NGOs and VCC should give cooperation for early solution. Solution will be only once but election will come after every five years.”  

“When development comes, people should join hands and unite together in order to progress in our area,” he added. Thongwang Konyak, MLA in a short speech appreciated the DUDA department and cooperation made by the villagers for timely completion of this bridge and urge to continue to support and cooperate for development in the days to come.  

The technical report was presented by Er. Sao Sangtam, EE, DUDA said that the bridge which is 121 feet in length with single lane over the river Tapi was completed within a span of 9 months. This bridge was constructed under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) by DUDA Department between Totok Chingkho village and Choknyu village under Mon district. L Kire, IFS, Principle secretary DUDA, Thavaseelan K (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Mon and Manlip Konyak, President, Konyak Union also spoke in the programme. Earlier K.S. Anden Konyak, NCS, Director DUDA chaired the programme.
