Taxpayer interactive outreach programme held in Mokokchung

MOKOKCHUNG, JULY 29 (MExN): Organized by the Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, North East Region (NER), Guwahati, an interactive outreach programme was held on July 29 at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, where representatives from the NGOs, Business Community and Entrepreneurs in the district attended the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax NER, Chaitali Panmei said, even if the Section 10(26) of the Income Tax Act, 1961 provides for Tax exemption  to Tribal of North East India, there is lot to learn about so that the people of the region becomes financially literate. She said today they are sowing the seed in Mokokchung but in few years’ time people will realize the impact and the importance of the interactive outreach programme being held today and how it benefits the people in their endeavour. 

Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji, while welcoming the officials of Income Tax led by its Principal Chief Commissioner, NER to the district also shared his appreciation and gratefulness towards the department for taking all the trouble in organizing such a programme in the district. He said when it comes to income tax, almost all the people in the region, and particularly in the district are illiterate. He mentioned that the programme is an eye opener and would enlighten and benefit the people of the district in days to come.
